Swimfan

Ben Cronin is a high-school jock who once had a drug problem and has a record in the juvenile justice system. Ben got his life back on track and seems to now have everything. Ben is training to impress a visiting athletic scout from Stanford University. Ben is dating a girl named Amy Miller and works with his mother at the local hospital. A new girl named Madison Bell transfers to Ben's school and immediately begins to seduce Ben, eventually convincing him to have sexual intercourse with her in a pool. Ben considers it to be a one night stand but Madison falls hard for Ben. Ben rejects her and tells Madison he doesn't want her he already has a girlfriend. Possessive Madison becomes obsessed with Ben and she stalks him. Madison comes by Ben's house, she manages to become friendly with Amy and Ben's mother, and she even sends naked pictures of herself to Ben. After Ben conclusively tells her that he wants nothing to do with her because he is with Amy, the "horror" truly begins as she has a violent streak and will never let him go, even in the face of death.

Swimfan was a great movie example for obsessive compulsive disorder. We talked about obsessive compulsive disorder in chapter twelve. OCD is where a person becomes obsessed with certain thoughts or feelings due to certain things. After Ben and Madison had their one night stand Madison's feelings for Ben became very strong. She didn't want to hurt Ben but because her feelings of wanting to be with him were so strong, her attempts to make him love her did hurt him. Therefore her obsession was Ben. The compulsive disorder is the actions she took to make Ben want to be with her.
